Another Pure-FTP question!

I'm having a hard time understanding an issue involving the use of choot and virtual chroot. I have pureftpd setup using puredb, all is well and everything works fine. It was compiled with virtualchroot and in the config file I choose to chroot everyone. Now when I add a user and choose to either cage them (-d) or not cage them (-D) it does not seem to matter if chrooteveryone is set to yes. I know I can set this to no and then use the pure-pw switches to cage them but what is the point .. am I going about things all wrong? Any help or good kick in the right direction would be helpful

Thanks
