Question Another 'Bringing up interface eth0: Failed' question

Hi,
I'm sorry to make another thread on this issue, but I've read the others and have yet to find a solution to my problem. I bought RedHat7.2 today and installed it. When booting up for the first time I got the 'Bringing up interface eth0: [failed]' part and it's been stumping me for a while. Here's some background on my hardware and the such:

-Davicom Semiconductor, Inc card (DEC, it should be a tulip driver according to RedHat and it is)

-Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL 4 port router

-Mediaone/AT&T Broadband cable internet (LAN)

Note: I've used this router with this same network card and same computer under Windows XP and it has worked fine.

I've tried a couple different things, but nothing seems to be working. My /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts looks like this (as I believe it should):

DEVICE=eth0
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROTO=dhcp

Oh, and I cannot use the router's web utility from linux (it can't find the 192.168.1.1 site), but when using the utility from this computer (windows xp) I can see that it recognizes the other computers existance.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Adam

Edit: I tried a couple more things and did 'insmod tulip' followed by 'lsmod' and 'ifconfig' and eth1 is showing up. eth1 seems to have the correct addresses (192.168.1.101 is right) and the such, but the hardware address (I believe) is actually the one for eth0, not eth1, if that makes sense. I can actually now ping my other computer (192.168.1.100 as given to by the router), though I still can't do anything on the internet.

Thanks again

eth1? Even though you've only got 1 NIC? Weird. Try "ifconfig -a" and see if you get something different than from just running "ifconfig".

Also, with only a couple of computers on your LAN, you might have less problems using static IPs. You could at least try it as a troubleshooting tactic.
