An Old Box as a Server

Hi everyone.

I have an outdated P3 500 MHz, 256 MB RAM, 2 HDD's (1 13 GB, and 1 60 GB) and sound card/vid card dont know right now but dont matter.

I want to install a Linux OS using only a command line interface to power an NFS server (I want to be able to dump mp3's videos, pictures, ISO's etc. to the 60 GB HDD which I plan on having one ext3 partition on which would be probably mounted under /nfs in Linux.

Now, I have narrowed it down to 3 Operating Systems, SuSE 9.1 Pro (with no gui but networking tools), Fedora Core 2 and Debian Sarge (I cannot get woody to work with the network card on this machine no matter what I do). Out of the 3, I would say the most stable in my opinion is Sarge for desktop use. Is it the best choice for the server?

Also, from the command line, how would I go about doing this. Is there NFS utilities to set it up that include wizard type things. 2 of the desktops connecting to the computer will be running SuSE 9.1 Pro and the other SuSE 9.0 Pro (my lil bro doesn't want to bother upgrading yet).

A cable comes out from my wall into my cable modem. This in turn connects to my router through a CAT5 Wire. Then, the router has 4 ports connecting to the 3 desktops and the 1 possible future server.

Is this computer powerful enough to do what I want it to do? A step by step guide would be really good. Anyways, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Ya, I'm going to give Debian a shot and Slackware I am going to try next (assuming Debian fails).

So if they are cnnected in the manner I have specified, how would I go about setting up the NFS server and how would I go about connecting to it from say my SuSE 9.1 Pro machine? Anyone know the proper commands. Windows is not going to be involved at all (I dual-boot it but don't plan on connecting to my server with it). So I don't need Samba, can anyone tell me how I would be able to do this?
