Allocating bandwidth to applications

Does anyone know of any way to ensure an application gets all the bandwidth it needs while other applications are using an internet connection? I'm particularly interested in ensuring that audio streams (usually Real Audio in xine) continue uninterrupted while I surf / download.

Cheers.

Dave.

You can use tools like "tc" traffic control to allocate a certain bandwidth to a specific service. Perhaps you can find a solution with it.

Cheers.

Looks like I'm going to have to do some serious digging around in the tc man pages.

I'll post again if I have any luck.

Dave.
