Ahh my internet!

Okay, I have a problem. I use ubuntu linux and my internet is as follows
Code:
my computer > my sister's computer > router
what I want it to be is
Code:
my computer > the downstairs computer > router
I really don't want it to 'speak' directly to the router. Thank you.

Could you explain a little more? What exactly is the problem? We don't have very much to work with.

You'll need to change the default gateway IP to the IP address of the downstairs computer.

Could you provde more details about how your network is setup?

How are the machines connected to each other in your home?
How do you access the internet from each of these machines?
Are all the machines linux based or are some window$?
Anything else that might seem of importance to this problem?

I don't really know too much about networking but this is how it goes...
The comptuers are all wired to the router which is then connected to this thing in the basement. (I have no idea what it is) and they connect back to the room somehow to then connect to the internet. All other compters are windows xp except mine which is ubuntu 5.10.
I used to be connected though a computer with ubuntu but when I reinstalled I suddenly wasnt connected at all. I have DSL.

It's as UK MadMan suggested... but instead of the IP for the downstairs computer, use the IP for the router.

Hope this helps.
