ADSL wont work

Sorry for that thread but i have searched the forum and i did not find anything to help myself. I am realy new in evrything here. I have an ADSL modem and this is the first time i try to make it work in Slakeware. To connect to my ISP, i have to give my password and username. The problem is that i dont know were to write this. (Windows dependent for 12 years) I think i have to use pppoe but i dont know were to find it...

I hope somebody will help, because i cant look at windows anymore...

first try to run (terminal) adsl-connect....or (i think) kppp (GUI) to allow you to setup a PPPoE connection

What linux are you running?What adsl you useing?I have the same probs with my adsl.You useing a router?

Which modem do you use?

if you use ppp to connect you just have to fill in your user and pass in these files:
/etc/ppp/chap-secrets
/etc/ppp/pap-secrets

it should look like this:
<username> * <password> *

hope I could help.
btw: I use an Alcatel Speedtouch USB and don't know much about other modem's.
