ADSL Router Web configuration pages appears instead of Personal Web Server Pages
 

Can anybody help me! I am a newbie in Linux.

I installed Fedora Core 1 in my Desktop for a dual boot with Windows XP. I am using USB ADSL Router.

I can browse my personal web server from the internet if I use Windows XP as the active OS.

If I switch to Fedora, I can browse my personal web pages using 127.0.0.1, which means my web server is working fine, but if I use the internet to browse my personal web pages, I am prompted with a login to my router web configuration pages. With a successful login, all I can see is my router configuration pages but not my personal web pages.

Can anybody please help me solve the problem? I really want to use Linux for my personal web server.

Squid Proxy doesn't seem to work!
 

I networked my desktop and Laptop using a crossover cable (network is working fine, no doubt about that). My Laptop uses WindowsXP and my desktop uses Fedora Core 1 which is conneted to the internet via USB ADSL Router.

I tried to configure my Squid Proxy Server in my desktop as per some information from the SQUID website and started it. As per the website, I can verify if Squid is started or not, using "pgrep squid". I do get prompts that my Squid is working fine.

In my laptop, I configured my IE to use a proxy server complete with the correct port numbers. I can't browse internet on the Laptop. I get a prompt "page can not be displayed..."

I tried some other way, using Apache as a proxy server. It works fine, I can browse the internet with my laptop.

Can anybody tell me what configure squid? Is ther any disadvantage using Apache as proxy and web server at the same time?

have you read the router page?

i've seen this problem with earthlink dsl users -- the page says something like the dsl connection is currently leased to another pc... if you want to drop that connection, and allow any pc to connect, click here...

it's dumb, but that's what it is. you read the page, click the button, and it releases any info it has on who it thinks is connected, and gives the next pc to ask for it connection...

out side of that, i suppose more info would be required...

the router web configuration page does not say anything about a leased connection.

I contacted customer support for the ADSL router but all I got was "...the router has no NAT translation built into it. So will not be blocking any traffic. Unfortunatley I cannot assist with the Fedora Webserver issue you have, this is supported by the Linux open source community online...."

Am i I behind a firewall? Or can anybody suggest another driver for the router? It uses a Chipset: Conexant CX82320.

Finally i got a tip from the guy who did the configuration file for the ADSL Router.

The problem was the ADSL router and the Web Server Port are the same, that is on port 80. I reconfigured the ADSL router to listen on port 8080 and that's it, I can now browse me personal website from outside my network.
