Question ADSL on Linux and Windows, Allow WinXP to use multiple gateways

Dear Linux users

I have an ADSL set up via apache, it's IP address is 192.168.1.1

I use Mandriva 2006 and I always have this PC at home so there's no problem here, the only thing that I had to do was load the usbnet module when the PC starts

However, in Windows XP my dad has a laptop and uses the ethernet port to connect to the internet on both the office and home

However, at the office the gateway is 192.168.0.1
At home the gateway is 192.168.1.1

Can anbody please give me some advice?

What is "apache"? From your description it seems to be a DSL router.

Assuming both home and office networks are using DHCP and your dad is putting the XP laptop into hibernate rather than powering it down, does he run ipconfig /release when he leaves his office and ipconfig /renew when he connects at home? If not, he should.

http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/w...wipaddrwxp.htm
"To bring a computer back onto the network after moving it to a different location, or experiencing an unexpected outage, first release, then renew the IP address. Computers on DHCP networks often (but not always) re-establish network connectivity automatically."

It's a DSL router powered by
http://www.acme.com/software/micro_httpd/
Micro HTTPD

Today the guy from the internet company will do a technical visit
perhaps I could ask him to change the IP address of the router to 192.168.0.1

Thanks for the suggestions, what I did was called the ISP and they configured the ADSL modem so that it's address can be 192.168.0.1, just as in the office
