adsl modem externel wont connect to pc.
 

Hi, ive got a asus amm6000ev externel modem/router and i wont to connect to up with ethernet connection, the modem says(by the lights on the fornt of the thing) its connected to my isp but i cant figure out how to connect the pc to the modem(software wise not cables etc), i cant even get it going in win$low$ xp, i brought it secound hand off the net, so its been setup before by another person for thre pc, they might have changed the default ip(192.168.1.1), the modem also has a console feature where u use a comm port to connect it ive had no luck in win$low$ or slackware ether, please help me.

Routers often use 192.168.0.1 as their LAN side defualt gateway IP - have you tried to access it with this address through a browser?

I checked Asus's website but their download page didn't appear to be working. Do you have a manual for this unit? There might be a hardware switch on the unit that will reset everything back to the default settings.

fixed the problem thanks anyway it was i had a crossover cable instead of a lan cable "doh" works now, my isp is having problems in a week i should be online and wont have to use my mates pc.
