Question ADSL Mandrake 9.1

Alright, I am completly new to Linux (running Mandrake 9.1 at the moment) and everything is running smoothly. Except for a DSL connection I have.

1)ISP is SBC Yahoo DSL
2)NIC is Realtek 8139/810X
3)Using a DSL modem. Not a router
4)Distribution is Mandrake 9.1

Thanks in advance

Also search forum, a lot of thread about PPPoE.

do not use the mandrake network configuration... it is usually broken. that being said, do this:

set up nic:

ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1

set up adsl:

adsl-setup

fill in the information

adsl-start

voila!

do: ping www.google.com

just to make sure you are connected.

first download it (I told you were to search before. The progs I know is called "rp-pppoe"

second, uncompress it (tar -xzf rpppoe_or_whatever.tar.gz)
third, read README and INSTALL files that come with it. Instruction are in it.

ray66: type "ifconfig" and "route -n" at root and give us the output (do it while you are suppose to be connected).

Also, copy us what is in the file /etc/resolv.conf
