adsl config with ASUS AAM-6000EV modem
Hi all.
I am having problems getting my adsl connection up on Mandrake 10.1.
I am using a ASUS AAM-6000EV modem connected to eth0. It all works fine under Windozs Xpee.
When I run adsl-start all I get is a time out.
This is what is contained in pppoe.conf...
ETH='eth0'
USER='xxxxx@xxxxxxx.xx'
DEMAND=300
DNSTYPE=SERVER
PEERDNS=yes
DEFAULTROUTE=yes
and in chap-sectretes.....
'xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxx.xx' * 'passwd' *
'xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxx.xx' * "passwd"
pap-secretes contain same as above.
OK I don't know anything much about adsl but found this on another forum about the ASUS AAM-6000EV which I think maybe significant but I don't really understand it......
"PSec clients or servers are not supported at all. This is because the NAT
for the ASUS external only suports TCP or UDP, and not IPSec-ESP. Future
firmware releases may hold some promise, but don't count on it. I guess that
means every part of IPSec is an issue ....
You also can't run a PPTP client from the LAN side, as the ASUS NAT breaks
GRE. The helpful ASUS engineers mentioned that PPTP will work if you turn
off NAT."
Hope someone can help, many thanks in advance, BashTin.
