Address Resolution Implementation

I am writing a kernel module for simply translating IP addresses to MAC addresses by implementing the ARP protocol.
I have referred the file arp.c for the list of functions available in linux which could help me.. But am only getting confused looking at the size of the file..

CAN ANY ONE HELP ME WITH THIS?? I am not an expert at kernel level programming so please lemme know which functions to use and how to best complete my task of IP to MAC translation.

Hi,

Could you explain a bit more why you want such a module...
pinging the IP and then looking at the ARP table as allways seemed enough for me !
Anyway the project is theorically interesting

Laz,
