Adding routes

Hi,
I am not used to networking and would like to add
a permanent route on my system (linux redhat ES V3)
to reach machines a another network using a gateway,
I woul like to get the correct syntax of "route add"
command assuming that my gateway is 192.160.1.18
(same network) and has another interface 10.10.1.7
on the other network.
Thanks

`man route` has all the syntax as well as examples.
