Adding Domains

Probably a newbie stupid questions but I'll ask it anyway.

I'm trying to add a domain to a Debian environment. I have created a db.domainname file in /etc/bind and restarted the named daemon, but that doesn't seem to sork. Have I missed something?

I am pretty new to this BTW

Thanks

you need to add it to /etc/named.conf and create the domain databases in /var/named or a directory defined in your /etc/named.conf

I have added an entry in the named.conf file by copying an existing record in there for another domain that lives on the server.

I have also created the database file in /etc/bind (which is where this stuff lives in debian)

After doing both of the above I restarted named using

/sbin/init.d/bind restart

As I seemed to remember the new zones were only picked up after restarting the named daemon.

I'm sure I've managed to do this before but not for about a year, so was wondering if I had forgotten anything.

I've looked at the files in the link (thanks for that) and I'm sure that I have.
