Adding a NIC to a DL360G4 running Debian Lenny - recommendations ?

Hi Guys,

I've set up this server as a BGP router using zebra and quagga.

Now I want to increase the server with an extra dual or quad port GB NIC.

Does anyone have experience with this combi of hardware/software ?
It's going to be using a PCI-x slot.

I'd like it to be supported via plug'n play by Lenny.

Any recommendations ?

I would probably go with an Intel nic.. Intel Pro 1000 GT Quad port PCI-X adapter (single and dual port models available as well.. )

This card would use the standard e1000 module, which should already be on your system..

Drivers and Docs for Linux seems to be rather complete from Intel as well..

But that's my personal preference.

Please come back and let us know your experience when you install whatever card you get. If you had any issues, if it was smooth sailing all the way. That way it will be documented for the next guy that comes along.

Thanks !!

I've ordered the NIC. Will come back when installed.
