Accessing Windows Share using Nautilus

Hi All,
Anyone can help me with Nautilus on RedHat 9.0 samba browsing? I had samba installed on my RedHat 9.0 box and I'm sharing a folder and drive on my WinXP box. I set the windows share to public such that it does not requries username or passwd to access. However when I try to access it from my RedHat box a dialog box asking for username and passwd keep poping up. Please advise and thanks in advance

Does the same to me - I just put it down to one of it's idiosyncracies - you should be able to just type in guest for user and leave the password blank though.

try creating a user on the xp box with the same name and password as the user you are using on the linux box. when you do this, also add the new xp user and password to smbpasswd

syntax:
smbpasswd -a username <enter>
password
password

One other thing, did you update samba since installation of RH9?

It would be redicolous to create the XP box user name in samba entries because there are so many other XP box around. When I enter blank user name and passwd I will not be able to browse the folder anymore

No - enter guest as the username and leave only the password blank.

Make sure the guest acccount is turned on the XP machines.
