[SOLVED] accessing remote linux machine with ssh

I was trying to ssh into a linux machine at work from home, but was unable to connect. I assume I need to setup the machine at work somehow in order to do this as I can access a local server just fine. The box I am trying to log into has ssh server on it and is connected to the Internet via a 3G
USB modem with a static IP address. Can I just ssh into this machine or do I need to use some kind of progam like vnc server and viewer.

You need to check the firewall settings on the server and ensure that the IP of the 3g connection is being wholly passed to the server too. 3g connections seldom do this in my experience as they are heavily natted and proxied by the isp.
