Hi, I have a web page at http://localhost:8080/
on my Linux box which I want to be able to access from a Windows 2000 machine on my LAN - using something like: http://linuxbox:8080/.
I am using an ADSL router as my DHCP server, and so the actual IP my linux box is assigned varies.
Is there a way I can give the linux box a name within the LAN that a browser under Windows will be able to detect? Or is there a way I can fix the IP address and still ensure that my router accepts it?
Any help much appreciated.
PS I have checked my router. I can't get it to reserve an IP for a particular MAC.
