accessing another computer on my home network
Hi
I have got 2 computers behind a DSL Router. I am running Debian Etch and would like to access some files from a windows machine. I know the router's address, 2 machines have static IPs What next? When I opened a file browser -> network -> windows network - it seems as if there was no other computer, the screen remains blank. I have enabled sharing of those particular folders in windows thanks |
Do you have Samba installed on the Linux machine?
|
thanks for your reply
Yes, I do, however yesterday I switched off samba from the startup list to speed up the boot-up process (using sysv-rc-conf program) |
Start it up and see if you can access the files via the network.

Sorted:) - thanks
Is there any way to do it the other way round Windows>Linux? |
Well if you configure the VsFtp server. login from the windows machine and you will can transfer the data here and there.
hope works |
