able to ping proxy but no authentication

Hello,

I am facing a peculiar problem. We have a windows proxy server and I am using debian system. the problem is that I am not able to access the internet. I am able to ping the proxy but the biggest problem here is that I am not able to ping even the machines in the network.

What all could be the problems. May be that the proxy needs an NTLM authentication and I got no ideas how to bypass it.

regards,
vijay.

hi,

Kindly mention the details of your and ur server's ip.
might be u have keyed in wrong subnet.
Also, r the other machines in the network are able to
proxy only after authentication. If not then try to set
connection preferences in netscape.

Hope it helps

My IP: 90.50.50.115
Our subnet : 255.0.0.0
MS Proxy Server IP: 90.0.10.101:80

Other windows machines are able to ping the proxy and are able to get the authentication. My debian machine is not able to ping the other windows machines but is able to only ping the proxy server but not able to acess internet.

Other machines need authentication from the proxy and the windows machines are able to do it.

The browser I am using is Mozilla 1.6 with NTLM authentication.

regards,
vijay.

If that's internal then you should be using internal addresses (172.16*, 192.168* ....).

WHat does the traceroute show?

Is there a firewall in between .. say a personal firewall on windows? If yes then have you allowed ICMP?

Have you set your gateway on linux machine?

Did you put the proxy details in to your internet browser? In Mozilla it's Edit-->Preferences-->Advanced-->Proxies then choose the manual configuration option.
