I have a broadband connection to my ISP set up with dhcp and think is has something to do with checking the connection every 30 seconds (Done automatically at install). Where or what to do to stop this is a mystery to me. Look forward to a cure!!!!!
Distribution: Just about anything... so long as it is Debain based.

Your post leaves a lot to be desired.
First of all, what is your connection to this DSL router? Is it via an ethernet port or USB? Did you have to just enable a DHCP client or set up some sort of authenication/PPPoE connection?
You mentioned some "install" what are you talking about there?
Perhaps you need a little more effor in your post; "Effortless Effort" did not server you well here.
Oh, and try to choose a better name for your thread next time too... I almost didn't post because of how poor it is.
I do apologise........I will be as specific as I can!!!
I have a D-link DSL-302g modem (I think this acts a router), connected to an ethernet card Realtek RTL8100BL controller (Onboard). When I installed Debian recently, the installer detected my card and modem automatically, and it asked me if I want the connection configured with DHCP. I said yes and everything went smoothly (IE - emails, surfing etc). When I went to install the Nvidia driver in single mode, this message kept coming up onto the screen every 30seconds or so and filling the screen. Through reading LQ I read about the command dmesg and tried it to see if I could learn anything. Almost the entire file created is this message repeating.
What else I can tell you I don't know as I am quite new to linux, and am just beggining to learn about networking.
By the way, "Effortless Effort" is not indicative of laziness as you have suggested. It simply means to do things in a natural way. For instance, are you slouched over in your chair using twice the amount energy required to do the same thing if you sat properly. This causes double the excess strain to your spine that nature intended for this action. Over a lifetime, the result is severe back pain!!
