A little help with T-DSL Connection

I am a complete Newbie to linux, so every little helps.

I am using SuSE 9.0.

My dilema is I want to set up my linux box to act as a router for all my machines in my house and get rid of my hardware router (that does not enable ident). My problem is I can connect to the inet using my router very simple to set up, but when I want to manually configure my dsl connection to t-online, it never connects. I filled out all the details as required for this connection but I never get any were.

Is there something you have to do to enable this connection?

Can someone out there please help, would be really appreciated.

Thanx

thanx slackie for the warm welcome.

at the moment I cannect my linux over my router, but I want to set it up to connect only through linux.

I ran the adsl wizard and found t-online connection in there, after filling out all the details I still could not connect to the iternet.

I set it up using capi dsl (is this correct).

what settings have you got and is there? And was there anything special you had to fdo to get it to connect.

Thanx again in advance

hi, gav...
your are welcome. ; - )
what exact is this adsl wizard? you mean adsl-setup? If yes, it should write a file like that:
file : /etc/ppp/pppoe.conf
===========================================================
ETH='eth0' => check if this is same in your case...
USER= YOUR DATA FROM T-ONLINE !!!!! @t-online.de
DEMAND=no
DNSTYPE=SERVER
PEERDNS=no
DNS1=
DNS2=
DEFAULTROUTE=yes
# After here everything is default
CONNECT_TIMEOUT=30
CONNECT_POLL=2
ACNAME=
SERVICENAME=
PING="."
CF_BASE=`basename $CONFIG`
PIDFILE="/var/run/$CF_BASE-adsl.pid"
SYNCHRONOUS=no
CLAMPMSS=1412
LCP_INTERVAL=20
LCP_FAILURE=3
PPPOE_TIMEOUT=80
FIREWALL=STANDALONE
LINUX_PLUGIN=
PPPOE_EXTRA=""
PPPD_EXTRA=""
=================================================================
There is also, in the same directory the files:
pap-secret and chap-secret with your password - from t-online!

using now the script "adsl-start" under /usr/sbin/adsl-start it works..
like I wrote before, running suse can be different..

Regards,
Slackie
