3Com 3C905B breaks after a warm-boot in kernel 2.6

HI,

After I reboot my computer while running linux 2.6.x (2.6.0 and 2.6.1 have been checked) my 3Com 3C905B NIC breaks, and while the 3c95x module loads I get a warning:

***WARNING*** No MII transceivers found!

At which point all h*** breaks loose and I get a multitude of errors while trying to get an IP address from my ISP's dhcp server (RoadRunner).. Most are of the form:

eth0: command 0xXXXX did not complete! Status=0xffff

over and over again..

The only way to fix it is instead of rebooting, I have to do a cold-boot (shutdown and then turn the computer off and back on).. Which is a pain. I've also noticed since I multi-boot Win98SE, Win200Pro and linux, this also happens after a reboot out of Win98SE and into linux.. Windows 2000 Pro has no problems rebooting out and back into linux.

I don't know what information will help to diagnose this problem.. So feel free to tell me what I need to provide.

Thanks,
Gargan
