It's depend if your provider uses pppoe or not. If they use pppoe then here are the steps:
1. Go to System Tool --> Internet Configuration Wizard
2. Select xDSL Connection --> Click Forward\
3. Select an ethernet device if machine have multiple ethernet cards
4. Type in Provider Name, Login Name, and Password --> Click Forward
5. Check Activate device when computer start
Check Allow all users to enable and disable the device
6. In Advance,
Check Restart if connection die
Check Make this connection the default route
This should do it. All you have to do now is activate the ppp0.
BTW, I found out that RH8 will not activate the NIC if it's set to uses dhcp. So, you need to give an internal IP address to it like 192.168.1.1 with mask of 255.255.255.0
