Hello

i want to change eth0 ip address from 192.168.7.143 to 192.168.7.140, but it not changed even i follow the steps in this tutorial

this is content of file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

*the bold is what i change
Code:
# Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] 79c970 [PCnet32 LANCE]
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
IPADDR=192.168.7.140
HWADDR=08:00:27:52:09:CF
IPV6INIT=yes
IPV6_AUTOCONF=yes
ONBOOT=yes
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
of course i restart it using "service network restart"
but it not works. (look at red bold text below)

ifconfig result:

Yes, if you specify the bootproto as dhcp, it will not use the ip definied in ipaddr line. you may update it as static.
