Window Manager for Android

Yesterday I tested for the first time my friend's Tablet (I have only a desktop) with Android, and I feel it uncomfortable.
It is multi task, but lacks a window manager, some application that makes easy to switch among the many tasks in use.
Somebody knows an app for android that makes it more confortable, something like windows maker, fluxbox, Icewm, or even the Gnome's workspace switcher or window list?

Unless it is running a very old version of Android (less than 2.0), holding the "Home" button will display a list of currently running applications and allow you to switch between them.

If it is running an older version of Android, there are numerous task switchers in the Android Marketplace that can help. There are also complete launcher replacements that add features like better multi-tasking and program organization.

Thanks

Thank you very much.
After I have said what you had written, my friend found about in the manual of the manufacturer.
