widescreen blues

I have just bought a 17" wide screen laptop, Toshiba Satellite L305 64bit. Can't get a Ubuntu live CD to work. 1280x800 resolution seems to be the issue. Live CD runs to a certain, then stops (in text mode) and says'aborting' I can't figure out the options available on the boot screen. Doesn't appear to be any way for me to input the needed 1280x800resolution into the boot process. If anyone out there is familiar with this issue please help.

TIA..:newbie:

With the typical live CD there are options for setting screen resolution when starting up. Look for something like "VESA" or "VGA"

What you may need is a "vga resolution code" This has the general form "vga=XXX"

This link might be helpful:

Also Google using "vga code linux"

Once you install Ubuntu, you may need to install a different video driver.
