tethering micromax a76 android smartphone with centos5.5

Dear all, i want to tether micromax a76 andriod smartphone with centos5.5 using USB cable. I tried google but could not found exact match on the issue.

I found a tutorial which i am referring (attached). I have done following things after enabling usb tethering on my phone:

1) /sbin/lsusb this lists my unrecognized device's vendor and part number.

2) I have created File: /etc/modprobe.d/a76.options
Contents:
alias usb:v_my_no_p_my_no* usbserial
options usbserial vendor=0x_my_no product=0x_my_no
3) Restarted the machine and i get /var/log/messages as attached. This is not similar as mentioned in the tutorial. I think my device is not recognized as usb modem but removable disk.

can any body fix this issue. Any other technique for usb tethering is also welcome.

detailed instruction would be really appreciated. I have my pc offline. i intend to connect it using my Phone.messages.txt

The basic idea behind tethering is that you link 2 network cards to each other. As the android has more than one network interface, you can do that.

In this case it's usb; You need to be able to set your usb port up as a nic. Try that first. I presume you have a usbnet.ko module in your module tree? modprobe it just before inserting the phone

Have you configured your phone settings for USB tethering? Once configured CentOS should recognise the device and automatically create the device ID.

hi have upgraded to Centos6.2. Now it recognises my device (smart phone) as usb modem automatically no need to install drivers manually. Problem solved
