Stupid ndiswrapper question - XDA Orbit / HTC Artemis

Hello there.

I'm currently investigating the possibility of installing some version of Linux on my Xda Orbit (otherwise known as an HTC Artemis 200, I believe).

The OpenMoko project looks promising as it seems to be Debian-based & I run that on my home systems.

However, Mobile devices are unknown to me & need to ask a stupid question...

I need to use Wifi on my phone a lot - gets round the paying for GPRS issue I have.

I have seen almost nothing about getting the wifi card on my phone to work

However...

My XDA Orbit is running Windows Mobile 6.0 - Which is still MS Windows at the end of the day.

ndiswrapper provides support for Windows-only wifi cards.

If I can get a debian-based distro booted up on my phone, download & install ndiswrapper, would I then be able to use my wifi card using HTC's wireless driver?

Am I talking total rubbish? I'm thinking this SHOULD work, but would prefer to hear from those with more experience (and intelligence) than me on this matter?

Thanks.

yes, ndiswrapper will use the windows driver

If that's the case I'm going for it! If I get any success in this direction I'll post an update.

There seem to be many projects out there, but getting everything to work under one distro appears to be proving tricky (for my type of phone that is...)

I'll try OpenMoko, install ndiswrapper & take it from there.
