Smart Phone First
The wife just got her an LG Enlighten android phone, the first for either of us.
What I would like to know, if we use our own wifi setup with the phone, will the provider still charge towards the 3G data plan? The provider is Verizon.
Also, how will I know when it's using the home wifi and not the provider's 3G? She doesn't want to try the wifi until we know for sure she will not be charged.
Now days, who know what the providers will do. I guess I can call them and ask also.
Thnx.

You have the ability in the Connections to turn off 2G/3G connection (I'm speaking from my mind, I don't have the real phone by me) and turn on Wi-Fi
which will then not use any 2g/edge/3g connection (your providers data connection)
I have done that when I downloaded GPS software on friends phone (Samsung Galaxy S - i9000) and it then updated the maps through internet connection using Wi-fi (I don't know the cost of transfer approx 1GB of data through 2g/edge/3g, so Wi-Fi did it nice).

I think I saw something about Connections and turning off 3G. As long as I can show comments about it, then the wife should be okay.
I'll have more questions as time goes on about other aspects of the phone
Thnx.
