rooting galaxy s4

sorry been all over the googles and everything seems to point exclusive to MS windows for rooting the Galaxy S4. that is a problem. my win7 box refuses to properly detect my S4.

id rather root the phone in my Fedora 19 laptop.

anyone have practice rooting this phone via linux instead of MS?

well found the answer... a program called Odin3 is the trick to rooting the phone, then it is just a matter of getting a clean ROM on the phone.

sadly it is NOT a Linux application. it is a MS Windows application.

This can be done from a terminal in Linux. There are scripts available for rooting various phones. Try the xda-developers site. All you really need is the Android SDK, and all you really need from that is the adb binary. You can do anything you need with adb in a terminal if you have the proper procedure available, but it's easier if you have a script you can just run. I've rooted my Galaxy S3 and my Asus tablet using adb, without ever having to use a Windows machine, which I don't own.
