Recommended phone that works with Kontact / Kaddressbook?
Hello.
I'm in the market for a new phone, which i require to work - either via usb or bluetooth - with KDE3's Kontact (or at the very least Kaddressbook). I am tired of having to synchronize 2 phones and KAB by hand.
I prefer Sony-Ericson stuff generally, but right now i quite open to suggestions in terms of phone brand.
I currently use Kubuntu 8.04, with KDE 3.5.10 installed.
Cheers!

I suggest PALM treo 680
I have a treo 680 and PCLinuxOS.
I'm using KDE too with my PIM being Kontact. There is a K app, Kpilot that provides conduits for syncing between Kontact and your palm device.
Kpilot recognizes and syncs well with my treo 680 without any intervention on the users part.
So, if you're running KDE, try PALM TREO 650 and Kpilot.
A little heads up, like most phone, there is no official support for linux in palm but the help forum people can help you with that.

Can anyone speak to: - the T-Mobile G1 (Android), (HCT ???)?
- the Nokia N-95/6?
- any Blackberry?
- any other non-Winders phone?
I am getting a G3 new phone: - For T-Mobile or possibly ATT/Cingular.
- MicroCrap need not apply.
- Prefer Linux, but Symbian & RIM OK.
- Good camera, w/ flash mandatory (this sidelines the current ver. of the G1 -- s/w can't fix this h/w issue
).
Like OP, I am going to use KDE tools.

The G1 is very tightly integrated with gmail. I exported my kontacts to a cvs file, edited it in open office, which reconised that it was a cvs file and formated it for easy editing, then uploaded it to gmail. Within minutes the contacts were on my G1.
Basically if you can integrate the kde apps sufficently with gmail, then the G1 would work for you.

I don't want to side track this from the OP -- KDE tools; but is there any talk of a new model of the G1 w/ a light for the camera? Any other Android phone available now, or at least soon, that would have as good a camera (3+ Mpixel) w/ a light?
