how to connect opie to the internet over usb:
desktop/laptop opie is connected to: 10.0.0.1
set ip address as:
plug in usb chord to box
dmesg|tail -n 10
- you will see some information about usb0 (most likely) and the type of device, etc
ifconfig usb0 up 10.1.0.2
(this ip address should be different from the one you're using on your ipaq
should return something like this:
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
10.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 usb0
make sure to have set your root password by using the 'passwd' command at the terminal
(enter ipaq's root password)
go to mandriva linux control center
-> network & internet
-> share the Internet connection with other local machines
on opie or on box where you have ssh'ed into opie
ping google.com or something else to test internet connection.
