Linux Tablets?

Hi all,

I've looked on Amazon and Ebuyer, but I can't see any tablets that can/do run Linux. Does anyone know of any? I don't want Android as you need to root the device before you get to benefit from all the features. Obviously this voids the warranty.

Thanks

Very interesting! I can definitely wait for that!

Whilst Unity isn't my favorite interface (DM? WM?), I'd be willing to give it another go under touch screen instead.

Another Linux tablet option

There is also this http://www.indiegogo.com/pengpod. The tablet runs Linaro, based on Ubuntu and can dual boot into Android, or run Linux off the SD.

Unity is, in my humble opinion, a complete nightmare under a traditional keyboard-and-mouse setup; that being said, I think it would probably work quite well on a tablet or other touchscreen device.

e.g. I agree with you

I believe Unity & Gnome 3 are sorta being designed for touchscreen devices more so than keyboard & mouse setup. Thus, that is probably part of MS idea for Win8.

Just a thought.

Very interesting, I'll await release before getting too excited. As I found with mobile phones, there are lots of 'good idea' companies out there, but very little seems to come to fruition.
