Ipod touch 5th generation and linux

I currently use an android phone. I want try an ipod touch 5th generation. It's like an iphone5 minus the phone feature.

Has anyone try mounting this in linux or is their an app that transfer files wirelessly to the ipod touch something like what Airdroid and File Expert does for android.

There is no version of iTunes for Linux so managing updates on the Nano would be a real problem. You might check the Linux forums to see if there is an alternate iPod manager available that someone has used with a 5th Generation Nano.

Only Apple would know the answer to this. However, based on the history of the iPod, it seems unlikely that you're going to see this happen. One of the major differentiating features of the iPod is that one doesn't have to mess with a file system browser, it's all handled automatically by iTunes. Now, that's not to say that everyone is going to like players that work this way. Hence, the continuing market for other brands of players.

GTKpod is the iTunes equivelant for Linux. Unfortunately, the devs have not updated it in some time. So there are no DB's for any 4th apple products.

I use scp instead. You need to JB your idevice and you can transfer songs wirelessly to your idevice. Since you are not syncing your library, the newly loaded music will not show up in your regular songs. You will need ifile or some other file browser. Good luck!
