ipod touch 2g backup in Linux
I just bought a used ipod touch 2g. It works great and I used iTunes on a Win PC to upgrade the software to ios 4.2.1. However, my home Win partition is old and I want to get it to back up into my XUbuntu 11.10 pc. I googled around and saw that people were using gtkpod, so I installed that but my ipod doesn't show up there when plugged in using it's USB cable. I don't see it with blkid either.
I saw that people were having trouble mounting iTouches once they were upgraded to 4.2.1 back in 2010 using an older version of Ubuntu and different repos. Is there a way now to backup these devices in Ubuntu Linux 11.10...I have some apps I already paid for and don't want to lose? Oh, my iPod is not jailbroken and I don't want to do so. EDIT: I did find out that my netbook which runs the older Ubuntu 11.04 auto mounts my ipod in Nautilus but I cannot find it as a mounted device in a terminal using df. I'm not sure which module the kernel uses to load this up. Could I just insmod xxx in XUbuntu 11.10? |
