htc magic unlocked international version.

I was wondering if I will receive the ota updates on an unlocked international version of the htc magic(G2 or google ion)? They are selling a few on ebay and amazon and some of the phones are labeled vodafone. I am currently on the at&t US iphone 3g network and would like a new phone. The answer to this would be a deal breaker for me.

Does anyone own an unlocked international version of the htc magic or an unlocked US magic from the google I/O developers conference? I just need to know if I will receive the ota updates over wifi for android even though I am on at&t's iphone 3g US network? Also will this problem carry over to an unlocked htc hero international version or otherwise?
