Google's Project Fi Benefit
 

Is anyone in the States using Project Fi as their Carrier? What are your thoughts about it? I was reading their website and think it sounds like a good idea, if one doesn't use much data. My current plan is with T-Mobile and I'm on prepaid plan with 3gb of data. I really don't go over that since I have wifi at home and use it in other places.

I use it, and love it. Been with them for several months, and have had ZERO problems. Bought a Nexus 6p, and love that hardware, too. No dropped calls (well, as many as I'd have with any OTHER carrier), even while traveling...been north/northeast, and all over southeast. Our phone bill for the family went from $175 a month to about $65-75 depending on data usage. And their claims are totally true...you pay for what data you use. My data usage for this month is running about .60gb, so I'm probably going to have a $26 bill for unlimited talk/text/long-distance. Like you, I have wifi in a LOT of places, and the wifi assistant will auto-join networks easily. Phone about the size of a Galaxy Note, so not huge, but the battery can EASILY last for a full day...I typically go 1 1/2 days between charges, and my use is pretty heavy. Charges in less than an hour.

Thanks for the info TBOne. I'm thinking of giving it a shot and will go with the Nexus 5X. The 6p is just too big for my taste. I'll look at buying the 5X myself and then switch to PFI by the middle of this month.

No worries. Another pretty cool thing about it, is that your voice and text messages go over wifi whenever you're connected, so you use ZERO minutes/data if you're on wifi. Just got our family's bill for the month....$78. Really. :)

Well getting a Nexus phone is out for now, maybe I'll be able to get the Pixel next year. I got a ZTE zMax Pro. It has some pretty good specs of it's own and for a great price using the wife's family plan.
