Can you force your android device to connect to only one wifi channel?

Hello everyone,

I have used iwconfig to set the wifi channel to a particular number, it works momentarily and the wifi connection get disconnected (iwlist shows the channel changed) but after a few seconds, it went back to the channel being used by the access point and got connected again. Why is this so? Does it have something to do with the wpa_supplicant?

I have verified this in my android device with marvell libertas wlan chip, but in a broadcom wlan chip changing the channel using iwconfig does not have any effect.

Regards,
