FWIW Commafeed is basically an open source clone of google reader. The flashy alternatives in that video gave me a nosebleed.

I have setup Tiny Tiny RSS on my file-server, it is pretty similar to Google Reader and I have access to it from all my machines without having to sync them.

I went with The Old Reader, as it seemed to be the closest in style and function to Google Reader of the ones I checked out. But then again I don't need it for much, I only want to scan the latest headlines from a selection of world newspapers now and then.

I hadn't seen Commafeed before, however, and it looks pretty good too. I may have to consider switching again.

It's a shame for google to discontinue reader. I loved using it.
