Bluetooth File transfer Failed

Hi,

I am trying to connect from the phone(POKY distribution running on OMAP 3430) to PC using bluetooth.

I did the following

1) Clicked Bluetooth-Sendto (Part of bluez-gnome) Icon on the UI

2) Selected a file to transfer

3) Clicked on Connect.

I received a message "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)". The file transfer failed. The remote device showed a message 'Connection Lost'

Is this because, the obex-data-server is not able to register properly with the dbus?

Or, do I need to make any changes in the file /etc/dbus-1/system.d/bluetooth.conf?

Please provide Inputs on this.

Thank you,
-Raghavendra

Did you have any problems pairing the devices? Is this the only Bluetooth service you have tried?

It often helps to go down to the command line to get more verbose error messages that might point you in the right direction.

To start, make sure you have a good connection with the remote device. Start by running the command (replace "bdaddr" with the MAC of your Bluetooth device in all of the following lines):

Code:

sudo l2ping bdaddr
See if that is able to bounce a signal back off of the remote device.

If that works, you could try sending an image or other file from the command line, and making note of the exact error you get:

Code:

obexftp -b bdaddr -p filename

Actually, I have tried it. When I do 'obexftp' through the command line, I can send the file to the other device.

But I want to use the 'dbus' service and 'obex-data-server' to transfer the file. This is failing!

I don't know what is going wrong!

Hi!

I had the same problem, on Ubuntu 9.04. Then I removed gnome-bluetooth and gnome-vfs-obexftp, and the problem went away. Apparently obex-data-server has replaced gnome-vfs-obexftp.
