A nice line in understatement that you have there, Paul. MeeGo had a future that was probably best described as 'questionable' or 'in some doubt' while Nokia was, at least nominally, putting its weight behind the system, but now Nokia has abandoned it, it seems in less doubt, but not in a good way. Unless Intel get another phone manufacturer, or consortium, interested, I suppose.

So, you've bought a 'phone now...isn't the more sensible thing to find the accessories, software and knowledge that you need to get the best out of whatever you've bought, rather than worrying about systems that you have decided against.

Well, the manufacturer of the OS seems all too willing to put out updates. However, the manufacturers of the phones have historically had a 'buy phone, and when you want new software, buy a new phone' business model. You can see why they might want to hold on to that, but the market is probably running away from them (at least, that's my interpretation of a reasonable proportion of the market). And then there are the networks, who probably have their own agendas, particularly if you are on a contract. |
