stupid problem?

Hi everyone. I have linux mint debian edition running as my desktop (been running it for a few months). Well something has been bothering me and I can figure out how to fix it. I do a lot of work with Cisco equipment. By default the terminal width (default terminal with this install) is 80. Well Cisco plays nicer with a width of 85. Is there a simple way to permanently change the width to 85? I have been manually resizing the window everytime I open it and it is just starting to really tick me off now. Any help you may have is welcome. Thank you in advanced.

See if this works for you. Edit --> profile preferences. Change the values under the last option Use custom default terminal size to what you desire. That should work.

Thanks for the input. I looked and I don't have that option. I didn;t know if there was a config file I needed to change in order to fix this, Thanks.

Yes there is. in your home folder, there is a file .gtktermrc.
Code:
[default]
port	= /dev/ttyS0
speed	= 9600
bits	= 8
stopbits	= 1
parity	= none
flow	= none
wait_delay	= 0
wait_char	= -1
echo	= False
crlfauto	= False
font	= "Nimbus Mono L, 14"
term_transparency	= False
term_show_cursor	= True
term_rows	= 80
term_columns	= 25
term_scrollback	= 100
term_visual_bell	= True
term_foreground_red	= 43253
term_foreground_blue	= 43253
term_foreground_green	= 43253
term_background_red	= 0
term_background_blue	= 0
term_background_green	= 0
term_background_saturation	= 0.500000
Change the two values in red and you should be good to go.

Oh boy this is not going easily. I didn't find the file in my home folder. I tried searching the whole file system and nothing came up. Although I did find it (after your hint of it being in my hold folder) the correct file of ~/.config/Terminal/terminalrc . The file was in a slightly different format but all the info was there. Thank you for taking the time to give me a hand.

we still do not know what the desktop is
also all "." ( dot) files are hidden
so ~/(dot).config is not displayed by default

I'm sorry guys I should have mentioned that I'm using xfce 4.8.0. The worst part about that is I know better to make sure I give accurate information. Thank you again for the advice.
