I'm looking for a CD edition of Mint9+KDE. All I find are DVD editions.
My Thinkpad T42 does not want to boot from DVD or from a geek stick built from a DVD-iso. I don't have troubles with CD-iso editions.

If someone has a solution to either problem: CD edition with KDE or boot T42 from DVD please let me know.

why not download the lxde cd iso and use your package manager to d/l KDE?

Nice idea that I'll try. At this point, I need mint-like packages and KDE desktop on several T42's. I don't care how I get there -- I'd prefer to avoid spending days per laptop a la win-doze.

if they are all the same....set up first laptop and d/l full stuff....run a live cd that has gparted or parted on it and partimage on it or clonezilla
take an image
burn image to dvdrw

go to other t42.s and setup same partition structure and "restore" image from dvdrw

1. download and install to system-A
2. use clonezilla or similar to create and image (ISO?) of system-A
3. boot live-media on system-B
4. use the image to write an identical install to system-B

Does this sum things up?

Now for my questions.

If I boot clonezilla as live media, my optical drive is busy as the boot device. How do I write the image (ISO?)

What do I boot on system-B so that I have tools?

Which tools (clonezilla?) do I use to put the image onto system-B?

2) find a live cd that can load live cd to RAM which already has partimage on it

knoppix has cheatcode...toram but now-a-days is a dvd so you might want to d/l an earlier cd edition?

systemrescuecd has partimage on it.......and cheatcode is ............docache............. as per

this looks like the best option as it only needs 400 megs of Ram.

grml has bootcode grml2ram...but does it have partimage?

but you need to check exactly how much ram you have for each computer.

3) the tools you ask about...........the tools stay on the live cd....no need to install them into the hard drive partition image.
