I had installed Ubuntu 11 and problems arose with the screen saver used in the newer version of Gnome. So, I downloaded Mint 11, which is based on Ubuntu, and lo and behond, the same problem. Screen saver locks up? So, I just don't use the screen saver and use the screen display off to get by under power management. Just wondering if either have come up with a fix for this problem? I did not have this problem in Ubuntu 10?
Am using ATI 102G1012400 with 64Mb. Was using another board with 128Mb and had the same problem. All driver correct. Did not have the problem with Ubuntu 10? Thinking about going back to ten?
Intel 3.2GB Hyper Thread Pentium 775 Processor, 4GB Ram. 64Mb Video Memory. Don't think it is a problem here since there are many other posting regarding the problems and suggestions to remove screen saver files. I think I am just going to reinstall Ubuntu or Mint 10.0. Just less aggravation. Thanks for the offer of help.

I would agree. Plenty brawny.
I would have suggested booting up to a live CD, setting the screensaver, then testing whether the same problem occurred from the Live CD. If it didn't, that would certainly indicated the install was borked in some way.
