PCI address space collision

I've just tried the Linux Mint live DVD, I chose "Check installation medium" and got this message:

[ 0.779391] pci 0000:00:00.0 address space collision [mem 0xe0000000-0xffffffff 64bit] conflicts with PCI Bus 0000:02 [mem 0xfdc00000-0xfdcfffff]

It went on to complete the DVD check satisfactorily.

I haven't got anything plugged into a PCI socket. Is this message important?

I was only trying Mint because Ubuntu keeps locking up - perhaps this is the cause?

Hello,

Are you using a desktop or a laptop? If using a laptop, what all devices are installed? This is to include WWAN chipsets, WLAN, bluetooth, etc.

Cheers,

Josh

It's an Asus Pundit Desktop Barebone P1-PH1. It has a PATA disk drive and DVD writer.

I would check your jumpers and your cables, make sure you have nothing messed up.

This page alpinelinux suggests editing the syslinux.cfg boot file to add pci=nocrs to the parameters. I couldn't find the syslinux.cfg file, presumably because it's a different distribution, but it looks like a rational explanation so I tried it as a boot parameter - it didn't work.

Disk packed up in the end.
