Nuisance message: UNABLE TO MOUNT BLANK DVD-R DISC. Location is already mounted.
I just installed a new SATA Blu-ray read/write drive on Mint 14.
I can read from the drive and I can burn blu-ray disks using K3B (Brasero has a bug preventing it from writing to blu-ray). The problem is that whenever I put in a blank disk (of any type, not just blu-ray) it mounts but then I also get a dialog box saying something like: UNABLE TO MOUNT BLANK <whatever format it is> DISC. Location is already mounted. Possibly there are more than one program trying to mount the media. Does anyone have a solution to getting rid of that dialog? Oh yes, My windows manager is Cinnamon. |
Welcome to LQ.
Cinnamon is a fork of GNOME Shell, ref. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamo...r_interface%29 I'd guess that the message "UNABLE TO MOUNT BLANK <?> DISC" appears when no {"Gnome tool" for handling a blank disc} is installed. A simlar thing happens in Gnome 2 : A 'Gnome dialog window' appears, when a blank disc is inserted. And the action to take is "Cancel". I.e. you cannot use the dialog, when the burning software is k3b. ( K3b is not a Gnome application, but a Qt / KDE application.) Conclusion : You will probably just have to ignore the "UNABLE TO MOUNT .." info. . |
