MintLinux screen locks up when playing a Music CD.
 

I couldn't find the answer to the problem I'm having.


Actually I have re-created this problem time after time to make sure that this is what actuall happens.

My system is an old Dell. Using System Info.
I am using:
LinuxMint12(lisa)
Gnome 2.32.1
Kernel 3.0.0-12-generic

CPU GenuineIntel 2 cpus
Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80GHz L2 Cache 1024KB

Memory 3014 MiB Free 2540 MiB Swap 4978 MiB

FireFox 11 For Linux Mint - mint 1.0

Banshee 2.2 (2.2.0)

I was looking up Google Sketch-up and some of the drawings somone made and had a CD playing in the DVD Drive. After about 2 songs the screen would lock up. You can't get anything to react to your mouse.

The CD would keep playing but the visual screen would no longer react to mouse movements. I could eject the CD and Banshee would vanish but then the FireFox screen shows up but you still can't get it to do anything. All the tabs on the bottom of the screen vanishes when the screen locks up. When CD is ejected and banshee quits and firefox shows up there still no tabs on the bottom of the screen.

From what I understood, it's a bug involving the gnome shell media extensions. But it's happening for you on Gnome 2.x? I didn't have the problem when using MATE, only Cinnamon.
