Unhappy Mint sarah 18 wont save anything .

Have linux mint 18 sarah on usb stick and it works really well but after reboot or shut down it loses all settings eg, mail setup and anything that's been saved. I installed the ISO with pendrive yumi multiboot. Also have four puppy os's on the drive, any help would be very much appreciated!

Cheers, stringy.

Yumi simply puts a bootable iso file of a system on a flash drive and it is a read only filesystem. If you want to be able to save anything, you need to either create persistence or do an actual install.

With the Ubuntu's such as Mint, if you have space, you can create a casper-rw "partition" which will be accessible as a data partition from other operating systems on the usb but it won't work the same way as it does in Mint/Ubuntu. I think that the word 'persistent' does need to be on the linux line so for a multi-boot already created, you would have to either do it all over or do it on each boot.
