Question Mint Backup

last month, I backed up my files (of a different install) with the Backup tool (MintBackup); and after a reinstall, tried to use the same Backup tool to restore my home. I've always gotten the same response: "An error occurred while opening the backup: tar xvf backup.tar -->512."

Archive manager says: "Could not open 'home20100405000026.backup' archive type not supported."

What to do? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

The Back-up tool is not perfect, but most users are *not* using as it was designed to be used.
